Ken & Carol

Our story begins in the seventh grade when we met for the first time in math class. By the time we were seniors, Ken was the Captain of the Football team and I was the Head cheerleader and we were attached at the hip. Then college and the rest....the three amazingly talented daughters and the nine fabulous grandchildren is, as they say, our awesome history........there are now 17 of us!!

The Captain and I have joined forces once again, to create an authentic handcrafted collection of decorative Americana Folk Art items for you to love. Ken Eldridge, the “Captain” spent many decades working for a major Fortune 100 corporation cutting budgets and planning finances and will now be cutting out ornaments and planning mailboxes and other wonderful wooden items.

I’m his first mate and wife, Carol Eldridge, with over 35 years of experience designing products and licensing artwork, but this time for our own company, Captain’s Quarters Marblehead. I will be decorating and hand painting the Captain’s wonderful original wooden items with a bright new contemporary color scheme. The paintings are of special spots in our picturesque town of Marblehead, places we frequent to dine, shop, enjoy: places that have special meaning for all of us. Together, as makers and creators, we carry on a family legacy of growing up, marrying and raising our crew of 3 amazingly awesome daughters who have blessed us with 9 grandkids to add to the ship’s roster.

This charming town is filled with so many cute “nooks and crannies” that inspire and influence us. It’s a place overflowing with inspiration, nestled along the shores of one of the most beautiful harbors in the United States, where we keep our boat. Our look is simple and naive, genuinely painted from the heart, representing everyday folks doing their everyday work in this most beautiful setting. Nothing fancy, just a charming visual of our view of life here in New England, colorful, happy, filled with detail and description. These irresistible handcrafted products are inspired by our endless love affair with the town and for each other, now working side by side, doing something we enjoy together, creating from the heart in a place so special one cannot help but be inspired.
